Тема: "Environment and its protection" к УМК Афанасьевой О.В. "Spotlight 10"

Цель урока: изучить новый лексический материал по теме "Защита окружающей среды", развивать коммуникативную, языковую компетенцию.

Задачи:

  • познакомить с новыми лексическими единицами;
  • активизация лексики, закрепление грамматических навыков говорения с использованием грамматических структур;
  • формирование уважительного отношения к природе и ответственного отношения к экологическим проблемам.

Оборудование: "Английский в фокусе" 10 (Spotlight 10 О.В. Афанасьева, В. Эванс), иллюстрации, карточки с заданиями, наглядный материал, компьютер, проектор.

Ход урока

Организационный момент

Teacher: Good morning, my friends! Who is on duty today? (Ответы учащихся)
What’s the date today?
What day of the week is it today?

Who is absent today?
What’s the weather like today?

What season is it now?
Today we have an unusual and interesting lesson.

Целеполагания и мотивация

Teacher: We will speak about our planet, ecological problems and solutions.
- Look at the screen! Read this word - environment.
- What associations come into your mind, when you hear this word?

Pupils’ answer: The environment is your surroundings, your house, your garden, your town, your shops, the hills and rivers, the ocean, the air and water and so on.
Teacher: Is it in danger now? Why?

Pupils’ answer: Air Pollution, Water pollution, Soil pollution, Nature pollution. (Ученики могут добавить The destruction of rainforests and other wild habitats, Extinct animals, Acid rain, Climate change)

Активизация грамматических навыков

Teacher: The world is our home and we want to see it clean and beautiful. But we take from nature everything that we can.
- So, what should people / we do to save the Earth?

- Use modal verbs: must / mustn’t, should / shouldn’t. (Записаны на доске, подобрать 2 половину предложения, составить небольшие высказывания в 2-3 предложения)

P1 - People mustn’t - cut down forests
P2 – People mustn’t - kill wild animals…
P3 - We should - sort garbage.

P4 - avoid usage of plastic.
P5 - save energy
P6 - save fuel

P7 - save water
P8 - plant trees
P9 – avoid using disposable items

Аудирование (интерактивное прослушивание ситуации, введение нового материала)

Teacher: Now imagine a situation: You’re hungry, so you buy a packet of chips and a bottle of lemonade.
- You eat the chips and drink lemonade, then throw these all. No problem, right? Wrong!

- What happens to rubbish when we leave it outside?
- How long litter lasts?
- Today you will try to find out!

- I have some rubbish (учитель достает и раскладывает предметы на стол): a glass bottle, a plastic bag, a newspaper, a banana peel, a traffic ticket, a woolen sock, a wooden tablet, a painted wooden tablet, a wax paper cup, a tin can, a plastic bottle!

- Think a little bit and match the litter with the card of time. Try to guess.
- Use the construction (уже записано на доске): (name of rubbish)… will decompose in … (time)

Pupils’ Answers (at random): учитель поправляет их, согласно карточкам. (a glass bottle – 1 000 years, a plastic bag – 200 years, a newspaper – 2 months, a banana peel – 4 weeks, a traffic ticket – 1 month, a woolen sock – 2 years, a wooden tablet – 3 years, a wax paper cup – 5 years, a painted wooden tablet – 15 years, a tin can – 10 years, a plastic bottle – up to 200 years)

- So, well done, and…

- What should we do with all this? Open your books at Р.64, ех 1: Here you see the conception of 3Rs: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE.
- Let’s read using constructions "We should …" (читают, переводят)

Work in pairs

(Работа в парах, активизация новой лексики в кратких диалогах)

Teacher: Make up a short dialogue to find out how good you are at reducing, recycling and reusing things.
- Use ideas from the exercise and your own ideas. (подготовка 5 минут)

Example:
P1 – How do you reduce amount of water?
P2 – I take a shower but not a bath.

Заключительная часть. Рефлексия

Teacher: It is time to make a conclusion, what was the most interesting part of the lesson? (ученики делятся впечатлениями, учитель резюмирует ключевые моменты)
- What new conception have you learned? (ученики должны вспомнить the 3Rs conception)

- Let’s watch some video about our today`s topic. I’m curious whether you can call the singer.
- Just look and listen. (Предлагается посмотреть видеоклип Майкла Джексона "Earth Song")

- Make up a sentence which is the message of the lesson. (Составляют предложение из слов)
- Future is in our hands.

- My dear friends, you’ve worked very well today. Your marks for today are... (учитель оценивает работу учеников)

- Learn new words from your working list.
- Write an essay "Problems of our region" 8-10 sent.
